Status as of December 2010
Hope this Holiday Season is going well
for all of you. I wish you happiness and health for the New Year.
The no-email list is not going to be pursued. Therefore, if you
are in touch with people who have no e-mail, you will be their source
for information.
Bill Klase continues to keep me updated
on obits and has been helpful over the years. He sent me the big
feature story in this update. Thanks, also to who Joe
Goldberg sends a stream of interesting web items. Bill Rousseau
also sent me information on Clay Cole (a.k.a. Al Rucker). The R55
site had a link to the story on Clay's retirement some years ago.
However, the link was taken down and unfortunately the information
was lost. Does anyone know where Clay went to school after
Harding??
The True Story of "Charlie
No Face"
Some called him the "Green Man", others
"Charlie No Face". Many of you probably drove miles for a chance to
possibly see him. Thanks to Bill Klase this urban legend is now
unraveled. Read this story and see how many memories are brought
back.

Do You Remember "Jukebox"
With the passing of Clay Cole, Gary Schumacher
reminisced about what might have been. In 1953, Rucker’s Rumpus Room
was on WKBN-TV. At the same time, Gary Schumacher launched a show
called “Jukebox on WFMJ-TV. Gary’s show lasted 3 weeks and went off the
air due to lack of sponsors. Gary said: “No sponsor wanted to chance
it. Al, on the other hand, found several sponsors and the rest is
history. I had great respect for Al and took some friendly ribbing on
the sponsor thing.” Gary could not remember all of those who joined him
on his pantomime show but he did list a few. Included were: Ted
Werning (1954), Chuck Humes (1956), Phil
Blair (1955), Patty Simpson (1955), David Beach (1954), Tom Daprile
(1955) and several others. Gary closed by saying, “I held a few record
hops at McGuffey Center with Chuck and my dream began to fade as to ever
obtaining celebrity status.”
Class Report Website
In June 2010, the Rayen 55 Class Site at Classreport.org
was activated. Please understand that your personal information
will not be made available except to site administration. This way
you can update your own page, if you change your e-mail or move
elsewhere. There is an option on your personal page that will
allow you to keep your information private. Check that option, if
that is your desire. It would be nice to have some
additional Biographies.
